Artist Biography

Mara Riley

Mara Riley

Mara Riley is a soprano and flutist based in Boston. She recently completed a double master’s degree at the New England Conservatory, in the studios of Paula Robison (flute) and Lisa Saffer (voice). As a flutist, she was an active participant in the NEC orchestras, early music department, and she played for various opera productions. She is drawn to Baroque music as both an instrumentalist and a singer. In 2023, she won the Colorado Bach Ensemble’s Young Artist Competition, and was the soprano fellow with Emmanuel Music’s Bach Institute. In 2024, she was a soloist in Boulder Bach Festival’s Messiah, BWV 10 with Colorado Bach Ensemble, BWV 64 with Emmanuel Music, Handel’s Israel in Egypt with the Back Bay Chorale, and in Handel’s Samson with the Cambridge Chamber Ensemble. She will be a 2024/2025 Voces8 US Scholar.
