Julian Bennett Holmes

Julian Bennett Holmes is an award-winning composer and performer (harpsichord, organ, drum set). He is in charge of chapel music at Columbia University and is a doctoral candidate at the Manhattan School of Music, where he teaches undergraduate courses. He studied with Lowell Liebermann, Richard Danielpour, Marjorie Merryman, and the late Kenneth Cooper. As a teenager, he toured internationally, playing in experimental bands. He currently performs weekly organ meditations at Columbia University.
His prizes include the Society for New Music Israel/Pellman Award, the Society for Chamber Music in Rochester Young Composer Competition, the National Federation of Music Clubs Young Composers Award, and the Second Prize at the Seventh International Antonín Dvorák Competition. His music has been performed across the United States and in Europe.
