Jeremy Rhizor
Violin
Jeremy Rhizor, Artistic Director and Founder of the Academy of Sacred Drama is the driving force for the revival of Baroque oratorio in the United States. Over the past nine years, he has devoted himself to producing musical and written religious content through his non-profit organization, the Academy of Sacred Drama. The Academy revives and produces performances of historical sacred dramas, which are also published in a print and online journal. Jeremy organizes complex musical productions and fundraising events, develops relationships with other organizations (churches, presenters, venues, etc.), creates new performing editions of ancient sacred music, and manages the work of editors, authors, musicians, recording engineers, videographers, translators, and volunteers.
He balances his Academy responsibilities with an active freelance career as a Baroque violinist. As a freelancer, he plays with many of the finest early music ensembles in North America, and has toured in Europe, Asia, and South America. He was recently the guest concertmaster of The Lyra Baroque Orchestra in Minnesota and the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra. Jeremy earned his Masters degree in Historical Performance from The Juilliard School, and his Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance from the Eastman School of Music.
