Alex Longnecker

Alex Longnecker

Celebrated for his “handsome, potent tenor and vivid, expressive delivery” (Dallas Morning News), tenor Alex Longnecker is a versatile singer spanning several genres from opera, early music, and musical theatre, to ensemble singing and commercial music. A recent graduate of the Voxtet program at Yale University’s Institute of Sacred Music, Alex currently works as a staff tenor with the Choir of Men and Boys at St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue in New York City. In addition to regular concerts and services at St. Thomas, Alex’s 2022 season includes performances with ensembles The New Consort, Collectio Musicorum, Gallicantus, New Muses Project, and the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus, as well as a role debut with American Baroque Opera Company in Dallas, Texas, as Acis in Handel’s Acis and Galatea. Recent solo appearances include performances at Lincoln Center with Yale Schola Cantorum and Juilliard415, Opera in the Rock, Dallas Bach Society, Verdigris Ensemble, Pittsburgh Festival Opera, and the Tanglewood Music Center. In addition to Yale, Alex holds degrees in music education from Iowa State University and a masters in vocal performance from the University of North Texas.
